About this training session

This research training offers:

  • An engaging, hands-on, and interactive experience
  • Aims to enhance researchers' knowledge, skills, and confidence in qualitative research and thematic analysis
  • Informed by firsthand qualitative research and educational experience, with extensive delivery in Australia and internationally

Real-world application:

  • The training incorporates real-world examples from qualitative research projects employing thematic analysis and other qualitative methodologies, alongside practical examples to assist participants in conducting their own rigorous research.
  • Each participant receives a resource pack filled with activities to enhance their learning throughout the training.

Day 1 allows participants to:

  • Understand the fundamental elements of qualitative research
  • Dive into and distinguish between essentialist, contextualist, and constructionist methods of thematic analysis
  • Navigate through each step of thematic analysis with tailored activities
  • Develop the skills and confidence to complete a research project utilizing thematic analysis

Participants of Day 1 receive:

  • Pre-training materials sent out two weeks before training
  • One day of interactive, in-person training
  • Certificate of Attendance

Day 2 enables participants to:

  • Apply thematic analysis within various theoretical frameworks
  • Understand the significance of subjectivity and reflexivity in qualitative research
  • Gain clarity on the distinctions among the three schools of thematic analysis (reflexive, codebook, and coding reliability)
  • Investigate the relationship between thematic analysis and other qualitative methods
  • Utilize thematic analysis with diverse data types

Participants of Day 1 & Day 2 receive:
